Scott graduated with a bachelor of arts in political science in 1990 from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and a Juris Doctor in 1994 from the University of Oregon School of Law in Eugene, Oregon.
Upon graduating from law school, Scott
practiced law in Los Angeles and Orange Counties in southern California until 2000, when he
returned to West Michigan.
Scott joined the Holland law firm of Coupe, VanAllsburg & Pater, P.C., in 2000 where he practiced until he joined Steven E. Bratschie & Associates, P.C., in December 2002 and Michigan Legal Specialists P.C. in January 2012..
practice has covered a wide array of matters including, but not limited to, general commercial litigation, complex litigation, employment and labor law, personal injury, bankruptcy matters, appellate actions, and creditor rights litigation with an emphasis on fraudulent transfers and finding and collecting hidden assets.
Scott is a member of the State Bars of Michigan and California as well as the Grand Rapids Bar Association, and the Michigan Creditors Bar Association.
has been admitted to practice before the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Sixth Circuit Court.
He is a member of the National List, DBA International, and the Michigan Creditors Bar Association.
has been on the case evaluation panels for Kent County since 2005 and Ottawa County since 2008.
Scott has served on the Board of Directors for the Community Health Center of Holland.
Scott lives in Holland with his
wife and two daughters where he
is a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
