Riley and Kirksville athletic director Scott Latham worked out the details to make sure that it would happen this year.
"I told him (Latham) I wanted to drop Marshall and add our own.

"I'm happy for him and his family," Scott Latham, Kirksville athletic director said.
"We'll miss him as our football coach. He did a great job this year and we would have liked to see him stick around." The Kirksville football program went 0-10 this season, its first winless season since 1973. Overall, the Tigers went 1-19 in the past two seasons. Kirksville will look to fill the vacancy as soon as possible, Latham said.

Kirksville Activities Director Scott Latham said the district's policies of no alcohol, drugs or guns on district property remains the same for tailgate parties, but besides that, students and community members are welcome to have fun.
"Kids do a good job (and) parents do a great job," Latham said. "Everybody's just out there having a good time before the game." People are allowed to grill, pitch tents and hang out during home football games. There are no time limits for holding a tailgate during a game. Latham said students usually start tailgating about an hour before the football game, or even directly after school lets out, and it's fun to see the community having a good time before Kirksville's football games.

"He's going to be a great fit here and I'm excited to see him get to work," Kirksville athletic director Scott Latham said.
He knows that there will be challenges inheriting a program midseason.

It was the underground line from the pole to the press box," Kirksville athletic director Scott Latham said.
"I can't say enough about the great relationship between KV R-III and Truman," Latham said. "We are always going to help each other the best we can, when we can, and Jerry, Kevin and Tyler were amazing to make that happen Friday night." Latham also expressed gratitude to the Weber Bus Company, people associated with the game from Kirksville and Chillicothe, and the fans. Now with the immediate problem taken care of, Kirksville turns its attention to fixing the line that caused so many problems. Page 2 of 2 - "We are removing the switch from the press box and will no longer use that line to power up the lights. We are installing a new throw switch on the pole where the underground line originated from and that will be the new light switch," Latham said.
