GARLAND - Pastor Scott Camp promised the nearly 800 people gathered Wednesday night for a memorial service for victims of a fatal bus crash that spiritual strength would help them face the terrible tragedy.
"We are Christians," he
said to applause from the audience at the Metro Church of Garland
, "and when Christians find themselves in times of trouble, we turn to the Lord."
Worshippers filled the 500-seat sanctuary and overflowed into the church hallways.Photos of the four teen-agers who died in Monday's crash near Terrell were placed at the front of the sanctuary along with large flower arrangements.
Several children in the sanctuary wore casts or sat in wheelchairs. Some wore orange camp T-shirts.
