...Sarah L. Harrison, PT, MSPT, OCSSarah Harrison received her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy and Bachelors of Science in Clinical Science from Ithaca College, NY.She
is enrolled in Temple University's Transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program and is scheduled for completion in 2004. Sarah currently practices physical therapy for the US Army and is the Chief of Physical Therapy for Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland.She previously served for four years as Assistant Chief of Physical Therapy Services for the 10th Mountain Division, located in upstate New York.Her
area of clinical expertise is orthopedics/sports medicine, with a specialty in pregnancy and post-partum physical fitness and musculoskeletal management.She
has developed a 15-month long physical fitness program uniquely designed to the needs of pregnant and post-partum women, which has received national attention.She supervised a daily physical fitness program for over 100 pregnant soldiers for three years as part of her program research.
This program focuses on maintenance of cardiovascular and musculoskeletal health during pregnancy and rapid return to previous levels after delivery.Sarah
frequently lectures in the areas of injury prevention, pregnancy/post-partum physical fitness and musculoskeletal injury related to the pregnant state.Sarah
has presented her
pregnancy program and the research supporting it at the US Army
Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine's
annual conference and presented a poster at the American Physical Therapy Association's
Combined Sections Meeting in 2004.She continues to conduct research in the areas of pregnancy and post-partum fitness as well as the correlation between running shoe type and lower extremity injury rates.
