became the first woman to successfully complete the full program and secure a career position with the bank.During her
20 year SunTrust career, she
held top positions in nearly every marketing discipline including Product Development, Public Relations, Advertising and in 1986 was made Senior Vice President of Marketing Services.Between 1984 and 1991, she
was responsible for the bank's sponsorship of the 24 Hours of Daytona which launched her
enduring interest in mortorsports.She served on the national board of the Bank Marketing Association, and for seven years taught at the Association's School of Bank Marketing at the University of Colorado.Her
Civic involvement included 4 years at the Arnold Palmer Hospital
for Children and Women as a neo-natal intensive care volunteer, area board member for Boy's Town

most enduring volunteerism began in 1992 when she
took on the volunteer role of Communications Chairman of Newman's Florida Camp
, The Boggy Creek Gang.In 1992, Ms. Gurtis
left banking to, in the truest sense of the words, "pursue other interests".She
spent nearly two years traveling, spending time with family and friends, learning how to fly fish, cook, and fulfilled a long time goal of an extended visit to Ireland.Her
corporate and motorsports experience merged when, in 1996, she
accepted the position of Director of Sales for Daytona International Speedway
.Within a month, she also assumed the role of General Manager of DAYTONA, USA, a multi-million dollar motorsports attraction that had been recently opened by International Speedway Corporation.She
guided the attraction through its first Speedweeks and negotiated its status as the Official Attraction of NASCAR.In the Daytona Beach community, she served on the Board of Directors of the Daytona Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Halifax Advertising Authority Board and the Foundation Board of the Stewart-Marchman Center, a treatment center for substance abuse.She is also on the Board of the Enzian Film Society, organizers of the Florida Film Festival.In July 1999, she left International Speedway Corporation to start a national marketing and corporate partnership program for all of the Hole In The Wall Gang Camps.She
maintains an office at the Florida Camp
and works with national and Multi-national Corporation
on direct partnerships and cause related marketing programs to benefit the Camps
is currently building her
Florida cracker-style dream house on the Indian River in New Symrna Beach and has name it "CenterPeace".Her
large family includes parents, 12 siblings and 23 nieces and nephews, nearly all of who reside in Central Florida.
