Sandy Gottesman
Principal Live Oak-Gottesman Sandy Gottesman moved to Austin as a UT freshman in 1969 and thirty plus years later, true to that early decision, he is still here. Following graduation from the University in 1973, Sandy joined Trammell Crow Company as a leasing agent rising rapidly through its ranks and ultimately serving as its Regional President. Under Sandy's leadership Trammell Crow Company was the leading force in Austin's commercial real estate sector. After 20 years with the Trammell Crow Company, Sandy moved in a new direction and in 1993, forming The Gottesman Company. With well recognized expertise in the industrial, office and land development sectors, the Gottesman Company continued to play a significant role in Austin's commercial real estate marketplace, developing approximately 3,000,000 square feet of space until the merger of The Gottesman Company and Live Oak. During the past thirty years, Sandy and his organizations have made an indelible mark on Austin. He has not only been keenly involved in some of the premier development projects that shaped the city including: The Arboretum, Tech Ridge, Metric Center and 301 Congress, but he has taken a leadership role in the restoration of historic downtown buildings, innovative reuse in Austin's warehouse/entertainment district and in creating environmentally sensitive new space for Austin's growing economy. Sandy's philosophy of building quality projects, designed and maintained for a long-term investment meshed well with Live Oak's core values and beliefs, making the merger an easy decision for all parties. Sandy has served on the Board of Directors of Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, the UT Elementary School, and the Austin Community Foundation. During his lifetime, Sandy has received many awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award in Real Estate from the Austin Business Journal, the Josiah Wheat Award of Merit for Historic Preservation from the Texas Historical Foundation, the Historic Preservation Award from the Heritage Society of Austin, and the Carl W. Burnette Award for Historic Preservation from the Austin Community Foundation. He was also named 'Austin's Best Developer' by Austin Magazine in February 1986.
