Sandra Westbrooks, Ph.D.
has acquired more than 25 years of administrative experience in higher education and five years of elementary teaching for the Chicago Public School System.
Effective January 1, 2008, Dr. Westbrooks assumed the post of Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.
As Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Westbrooks reports to the President at Chicago State University
Responsibilities include oversight for approximately 320 faculty at an urban university with approximately 7,000 students enrolled in 66 undergraduate and graduate programs, including doctoral programs in educational leadership and pharmacy...more about Dr. Westbrooks
In addition, Dr. Westbrooks
serves as the academic and administrative leader for the following units: the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Health Sciences, and Pharmacy; as well as the division of Continuing Education, the Honors College

Prior to becoming provost, she served as Dean of the College of Education, which maintains the second largest university enrollment with nearly 1,700 undergraduate and graduate students.
r. Westbrooks also has served in the capacity of dean and assistant dean in the College of Education for ten years respectively at Chicago State University.
Preceding Dr. Westbrooks' posts in the College of Education, she served in other administrative positions.
These include the following: (1) Assistant Provost and Dean of Student Development at Chicago State University; (2) Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the Board of Governors of State Colleges
and Universities System, Springfield, Illinois; (3) Board of Governors Administrative Fellow and Assistant to the Provost at Governors State University
, University Park, Illinois; and (4) faculty for the Department of Elementary Education and Student Teaching at Eastern Illinois University
, Charleston, Illinois.
Dr. Westbrooks has served in other leadership roles, including as chairperson for each of the following: (1) Illinois Association for Public Deans of Education; (2) Chicago Area Deans of Education; and (3) Fresh Start Governing Board for Chicago Public Schools and Chicago Teachers Union.
She has served terms as President and Vice President respectively for the Alumni Association for Eastern Illinois University.
In addition to grant writing activities, Dr. Westbrooks
has obtained official posts for numerous state, professional and community boards.
