ELLICOTT - Judge Samuel J. Ognibene is seeking re-election to the office of Ellicott Town Justice as a write-in candidate.
Ognibene has served as town justice since 2002 and has completed all New York State Magistrates certification training courses, semi-annual advanced training each year, as well as participating in multiple teleconferences over the last eight years. He is a member of the New York State Magistrates Associations and the Chautauqua County Magistrates Association. Ognibene is a lifelong resident of Falconer, where he has been employed by the Department of Public Works for 30 years, including the last five years as department superintendent. He is a member of the Chautauqua County Town and Village Highway Superintendents Association, where he sits on the executive board. He also serves on the Tri-County Executive Committee and the Chautauqua County Shared Services Study Committee. Active in the community, Ognibene is a member of the Falconer Fire Department and a past president. He coached midget football for more than 20 years, helped to organize the Kids Wrestling Program more than 30 years ago and is the tournament director at the Falconer Wrestling Tournament, now known as the Patrick J. Morales Memorial Tournament. He also is the voice of the Falconer Golden Falcons football and wrestling teams. He has served on various committees at the high school, and is the chairman of the annual meeting and budget vote. He also has received various awards for his community service, including the New York State Moose Volunteer of the Year. Ognibene is active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he holds and has held various leadership positions, including bishop.
