Dr. Samuel Evans Adunyah
entered the BSc (Hons) Biochemistry Program in September of 1974 and became a resident of Queens Hall.In 1976, he served as the Welfare Officer of the Queens Hall Junior Common Room Council (JCRC).
conducts cancer research - and some of his
research areas focus on some biological molecules known as cytokines, which regulate immune response and cancer cell growth and differentiation.In addition, he
has projects on programmed cell death (apoptosis) in cancer cells.He also researches collaboration with Hematologists on compounds, which have potential therapeutic effects for treat of sickle cell anemia disease.He is currently the Co-Principal Investigator on a National Cancer Institute Research grant with the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and this grant provides funding at the tune of $7.5 million dollars in 5 years and will be renewed in 2006 for additional $12.5 million dollars.
