Sam Matekane, Managing Director of MGC is the sole owner of the only privately-owned aircrafts in the country.
The company already has a contract with a South Africa-based National Airways in Lanseria Airport, Johannesburg that offers charter services. Matekane said, "May the government, the Basotho nation and the whole world let it be known to all that these aircrafts are here to serve this country and its people and they all belong to them." Mosisili thanked Matekane on behalf of the government and the nation for not preserving the airlines for his own family and the company alone but for letting this property be used by the public.

on_business Mr. Sam Matekane
MASERU- Renowned businessman and founder of the Matekane Group of Companies, Mr Sam Matekane, has urged upcoming entrepreneurs to be patient in their quest to make it in the cut-throat world of commerce. Speaking at the Business Talk hosted by Lesotho Sun on Thursday last week, Matekane said young entrepreneurs often make the mistake of expecting to turn rich overnight yet it takes years of hard work and patience to succeed in business. Matekane further highlighted his empire has very humble beginnings, evolving from a small-scale brick-making business and then expanding to plant-hire, road-construction, mining and aviation. When you do so, it is when we start judging whether you have a future in business or not," Matekane said. He continued: "The white man was not joking when he said at the end of the day, hard work pays. One needs to be patient enough to know that a business does not grow over a day, and returns take much longer to be realised in business." A good businessperson should seek skilled personnel that would add value to his business, he also noted.

Speaking at the signing ceremony held in Maseru, MGC chairman, Mr Sam Matekane, said he was happy his firm would be associated with FC Likhopo, and appealed to the players to put-up a good performance.
"It has been years now since the club approached us for sponsorship, so I am really happy the deal has now been signed," said Matekane. "We are expecting you, the players, to play good football that will make us and the public out there proud. I know football is a win and lose game, but you must always try your level best. We are expecting you to represent the country in future." Matekane further promised his company would have no problem continuing with the sponsorship beyond the two years, provided Likhopo performed well in the Vodacom Premier League.
