IRVINE, CA - Berger Kahn, a leading multi-service West Coast law firm, announced today that Ryan Hirota has joined the firm's Orange County office as a principal.
Ryan represents developers, landowners and contractors as well as auto dealerships and other small to mid-size companies. He has tried or arbitrated dozens of cases, and has obtained judgments or awards for his clients in cases involving multi-party disputes involving real estate, commercial lease agreements, tax deferred exchanges, construction practices and contamination of real property. "We are delighted that Ryan has joined the firm. Prior to joining Berger Kahn, Ryan was a name partner at Weiss Hirota & Associates in Long Beach. Ryan has presided as a Judge Pro Tem for the Long Beach Municipal Court since 1987. He is a former member of the Board of Governors of the Long Beach Bar Association and a past-president of that Association. He is also past president of Women Lawyers of Long Beach, the first male ever to preside over that organization. In 2004, Women Lawyers of Long Beach voted Ryan "Lawyer of the Year. Ryan also is a past president of the Downtown Lions Club of Long Beach, a chapter of the national service organization. Ryan donates his time to many pro bono causes including the Homeless Organizing Committee (HOC) that recently challenged the legality of sweeps against the homeless in Long Beach. Ryan was co-counsel with the Legal Aid Foundation and successfully obtained restitution for seven homeless individuals. Ryan received his B.S. from the University of California at Irvine in 1974 and his J.D. from Western State University College of Law in 1981.
