In other local news, Russell Durham, chief Operating Officer at Kilmichael Hospital says groundbreaking for the new Kilmichael clinic is set for today.
The new clinic is being funded through the USDA.
The current clinic has just three exam rooms and one treatment room, which creates challenges for seeing patients efficiently.
The new clinic will replace the current, aging facility.
It will be a state of the art building, with 9 exam rooms and a large treatment room.
In addition, the new facility will house a full laboratory department as well as a full radiology department.
It can handle any out patient lab or ex ray needs.
said having the lab and radiology department at the clinic will be a lot easier on clinic patients and be more efficient.
Anything that can currently be done in hospital can also be done in clinic.
There is a potential to increase the current staff but Durham
said they will have to wait to see how the new environment works.
At first, the hospital and clinic staff will be focusing on reviewing current systems and operations, and potential needs.
The projected move in date for the new facility is mid May.
Ground breaking is today, but when the clinic is officially opened, Durham
says there will be an open house for the public to view the facility.
