Russell Allgor, PhD, Chief Scientist
In this plenary, Allgor
and Kabbani will describe the solution required to achieve the successful planning and operation of Amazon's global fulfillment network.
...Russell Allgor is Chief Scientist of Amazon's supply chain group and leader of the Strategic Planning and Optimization team.He
focuses on using modeling, simulation, control and optimization methods to improve the efficiency of the company's operations. His
team brings a systems perspective to the management and planning of Amazon's supply chain and operations, focusing on improving the decision logic and solution algorithms by understanding the interactions between software and physical systems and the interactions among software systems.Prior to joining Amazon.com in 2000, Allgor worked for three years in the applied R&D department for Bayer AG in Leverkusen, Germany.
At Bayer he
demonstrated that quantitative models could be used to aid in the design of batch processes and to analyze and drive value on operating plants. He
worked with plants and pilot plants in the fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, polymer and biological products divisions.Allgor's career also includes three years at Air Products and Chemicals
working in process simulation and process design. He received a PhD in chemical engineering from MIT, where his research focused the modeling and optimization of discrete continuous dynamic systems. He holds a BS in chemical engineering from Princeton University.
