Menne is familiar with Aachen from his university years.In 1975, he received his degree in mechanical engineering and his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Applied Ther-modynamics in 1980, both at the Technical University of Aachen.As a result of his long-time teaching activity, Menne became an honorary professor at the Technical University in 1999.In 2003, he was conferred the honorary doctorate by the Techni-cal University Karlsruhe.One year later, he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Budapest.
