At the recent Board of Trustees meeting held during the 88th Annual National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show in Chicago, Ruben Villavicencio became the Board's new chairman, Linda Bacin assumed the post of vice chairman, and Bill Hyde was elected to the position of treasurer.

Ruben Villavicencio, FMP, was elected to serve as chairman of the NRAEF Board of Trustees.Mr. Villavicencio currently serves as president and CEO of R&M Food Services, Inc. in Brea, CA. After receiving his bachelor's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Denver, Mr. Villavicencio began his career in the foodservice industry with a three-year stint as a food supervisor with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service.Mr. Villavicencio was recruited by Alpha Beta Company to become a restaurant manager, where he quickly climbed in seven years time from restaurant manager to president of Alphy's Restaurant Division.Six years later he became vice president of the Alpha Beta Company.After selling 45 of its restaurants to Denny's, Inc., Denny's sold 16 of the acquired restaurants to Mr. Villavicencio, which became a part of his new company, R & M Food Services, Inc.He changed the concept of his acquired restaurants to a family concept called Millie's which he sold in 2000.He currently operates 7 restaurants called the Whole Enchilada, Mill's and Charo Chicken, currently employing almost 300 people.In addition to his work with the NRAEF, Mr. Villavicencio serves on the board of the California Restaurant Association, as a trustee of the Forest Home Foundation and is a past chairman of the Board of Forest Home Christian Conference Center, which ministers to more than 60,000 participants yearly in a camping environment.
