Ruben Gomez, M.D. Joins the Staff at Detroit Receiving Hospital

DETROIT - Ruben Gomez, M.D. has joined the staff at Detroit Receiving Hospital (DRH) as a surgeon.
Gomez specializes in burn surgery and comes to the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) as a member of the DRH Burn Center team.
Gomez joined the staff at Receiving in July of 2008.
Prior to that, he served as a Civilian Burn Surgeon, Institute of Surgical Research Burn Unit, at the Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio, Texas from 2006 to 2007.
He was a general surgeon from 2003 to 2005 at John D. Dingell Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan.

He is currently a Surgical Critical Care Fellow at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Gomez earned his undergraduate degree from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida and his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Gomez also earned a doctorate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Wayne State University, in Detroit, Michigan.
He is board-certified in general surgery and licensed by both the State of Michigan and the State of Texas.
