"Mentoring is the foundation of our profession," said Rosemary Scott, MA, CCC-SLP, coordinator of the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Program at Pasadena City College in Pasadena, CA. "When I think back to when I was a student, a lot of what kept me moving forward academically and professionally were the people who mentored me."
One of the greatest responsibilities is just being there for the mentee.
"You have to be readily available to the people you're mentoring," said Scott.
...
"The mentee really needs to take on knowing themselves, evaluating themselves, and thinking about who they are," said Scott.
...
"They're moving along that transitional stage, collaborating more often in the process," said Scott.
