Ronald A. Mayville, Crash Energy Expert, Joins SGH

WALTHAM, Mass.-July 23, 2009- Ronald A. Mayville has recently joined Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH) as senior principal and national head of SGH's Engineering Mechanics and Infrastructure group.

The group's clients include governments, utilities, and private companies across the United States and internationally.

In addition to his leadership role Dr. Mayville is responsible for conducting structural integrity assessments for several types of structures, including rail vehicles and track, pressure vessels and piping, special-purpose mobile equipment, and defense systems.

Dr. Mayville is an internationally recognized expert in crash energy management for railroad vehicles.
Dr. Mayville previously directed his consulting practice, R.A. Mayville & Associates, Inc., which performed structural mechanics work involving finite element analysis and testing on a wide variety of structures.
Prior to this he worked for Arthur D. Little, Inc., where he was an associate director and led the Applied Mechanics Group.
Dr. Mayville holds a PhD and a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Michigan Technological University.
