But American International College Public Administration Professor Ronald Kuchta says the governor is looking out for voters.
The proposed tax cut would actually cost the state about 2.4 billion dollars in annual revenue. Kuchta says voters shouldn't let Patrick's comments influence whether they'll vote for him or not. "He just has to take a stance, one way or another. And I would hope, whether it would be other politicians or the public in general, would not jump on him because of his comments or non-comments at this particular time," said Ronald Kuchta, a Public Administration Professor at AIC. Kuchta says if voters approve the sales tax cut this November, then it will go to the legislature.
