Ronald Karz

...
Ronald Karz
Ronald Karz is a veteran lawyer with more than 23 years in practice and more than 10,000 court appearances. His diverse base of "in the trenches" experience includes serving the public for over 13 years as a Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County, California, and as Senior Attorney responsible for interstate and international support enforcement matters for Santa Clara County, California. He has more than 13 years of experience in inter-jurisdictional law, including interpretation and application of foreign law and court orders from countries as varied as Australia, Germany, Hungary, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Ron's legal background includes criminal prosecution, criminal defense, plaintiff personal injury, insurance defense, family law, probate and elder law. He is an acknowledged expert on the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act, and has taught continuing legal education to other attorneys on that subject. After leaving public service, Ron supervised new case development for one of California's premier plaintiff's firms, Kabateck Brown Kellner LLP (KBK). At KBK, Ron worked directly with the principal partner on development of new cases. Ron, worked on a diverse variety of complex issues, from cases involving compensation for victims of genocide, to consumer class actions concerning deceptive advertising, to employee rights litigation.
In addition, Ron co-edited a procedural manual for the State of California for determining controlling child and spousal support orders when conflicting orders from different states or countries exist. Working at different times for two of California's largest Counties, Ron litigated thousands of interstate and international cases. In one case, he obtained a judgment of over $200,000.00 for a mother in Texas, 20 years after the father, a "minister" in a religious cult, fled Texas for California, kidnapping two of the couple's four minor children. This case involved a year and a half of litigation under a cloud of threats and attempted intimidation from the father's "church".
Ron is licensed in California, and at Mueller Law focuses exclusively on federal jurisdiction cases.

In its January magazine, the Advocate, a Journal of Consumer Attorneys Associations for Southern California, published an article by Brian Kabateck and Ronald Karz of Kabateck Brown Kellner.

"Of the cases examined, a potential Supreme Court adverse decision in Concepcion would likely have the most widespread effect in limiting the filing of class actions where a well crafted arbitration and class action waiver clause is included in consumer contracts," Kabateck and Karz write.
