Ron Kehn, our membership director, is in the process of updating the membership database. If you find a picture of someone else rather than yourself when you log in please let Ron know. If you still do not have a picture then either we don't have one or Ron has not got to your letter in the alphabet yet.

Ron Kehn

on Kehn, currently serving his second year as Treasurer of BB&C, has been selected as the Volunteer of the Month for April 2004.Ron joined BB&C in 1991, and this is not his first stint in an Executive position-in many ways, the most onerous of the many volunteer activities undertaken by club members.Clive Amos, who named Ron Volunteer of the Month in March 2000, mentioned at that time that Ron had been Membership Director and served two years as Secretary, as well as chairing the Raincoast ‘97 Committee, for which Clive described him as "instrumental in making that conference a great success."
Ron was born in Victoria 55 years ago, and completed his schooling here. After receiving a BSc and an Education Diploma from the University of Victoria, Ron taught high school, mainly math and computer science, in Korumburra, southeast of Melbourne, Australia.
He must have liked it there as he stayed 18 yearshence the Australian view of the world in the portrait above. (In actual fact, Ron does not seem to have picked up the widespread Aussie notion that they are not down under at all and it's the rest of us who are hanging off the bottom of the Earth.) He explored many parts of Australia-the Gold Coast was a favourite-and traveled extensively in New Zealand and throughout southeast Asia during his teaching career.
Eventually, he realized that Victoria is the best place in the world, and returned here to live in 1990.He also realized he'd had enough of teaching school, and has been engaged in computer consulting since his return to Canada. He travels frequently to the southern states-during the winter, not surprisingly-for some of the warm weather he enjoyed in Australia.
Besides serving on the Executive, Ron has, over the years, devoted countless hours to BB&C clubhouse activities. As MIC, and as a willing and reliable provider of technical advice and assistance, his reassuring presence is greatly appreciated not just by struggling newcomers, but those with more complicated problems as well.He has also contributed many Newsletter articles and reviews, on a remarkable range of topics.

Ron Kehn was the MIC but was trying to see what the problem might be.
Along with Ron Kehn, Ron De Beck was also there and was working to help diagnose the problem.
Ron Kehn has been a member since 1991, was the coordinator of our very successful hosting of RainCoast in 1997, and has recently been Treasurer for at least five years. He also is always ready to help members with their computer problems and has been an MIC for most of his years as a member.
It is because of members such as Ron De Beck and Ron Kehn that we're about to celebrate our 25th anniversary as an organization and on behalf of the membership of Big Blue & Cousins, I want to say a great big 'Thank you!'

Finally, we must recognize the leadership qualities of Ron Kehn, our RainCoast Chairman. He encouraged and stimulated us all to make RainCoast 97 a conference BB&C could be proud of.
