Romel Saulog Lacson, MPH
Romel is the founder and director of the Amaya-Lacson Tuberculosis Photovoice Project.
Three months after the untimely deaths of his
wife Claudia Lacson and their unborn child in July 2004 to TB
attended the 35th Conference of the International Union
Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IUATLD), where he
met people just like him who were united in the fight against TB.
By November 2004, the Amaya-Lacson TB Photovoice Project was born.
Romel, who had worked in the National Center for HIV, STD, and TB Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for seven years, resigned in January 2005 to devote 100% of his time and attention to fighting tuberculosis.
