Rollie Grandbois - FounderRollie is a member of the Turtle Mountain Chippewa Tribe from Belcourt, North Dakota.He has been working as a stone sculptor for over 26 years.His teachers were all renowned stone sculptors who guided him through the many phases of creating a piece of art in stone.Rollie graduated from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1983 where he also served as student body president that year.Over the years, Rollie has had over 200 students and many have gone on to become full-time professional sculptors.

GrandboisRollie Grandbois was one of ten children raised on the Chippewa Reservation in Belcourt, North Dakota.His father taught him the value of working hard; his grandmother taught him the traditions of his people; and his mother inspired him with her artistic talents.Rollie received his Associate of Fine Arts degree from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he also served as student body president in his senior year.Rollie works from his studio in Jemez Springs, west of Santa Fe, New Mexico.Rollie has been working as a stone sculptor for over 20 years.He also creates bronze castings from his exceptional stone originals.He is a founder of the Southwest Stone Carving Symposium, which, in addition to increasing artists' skills, provides scholarships for emerging artists.Over the years, more than 200 of his students have gone on to become fulltime professional sculptors.Rollie's sculptures are included in many public and private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.In 2001, Rollie received an Artist-in Residence appointment and exhibition in Luxemburg, sponsored by the Embassy of Luxemburg.
