ROLAKE AKINKUGBE - ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER
joined investment bank FBN Capital
as Vice President & Head of Energy and Natural Resources Origination, in May 2014, upon her
relocation to Lagos from London after almost two decades abroad.
She is involved in deal origination in the energy and natural resources sector, and manages key sector relationships for FBN Capital.
is focussed on delivering the full resources of the investment bank across equity, debt and other financial products to assist clients.
Alongside this she
provides strategic and expert insight and advice on the energy industry both internally and externally.
Prior to this, Rolake
was for more than 3 years head of the energy and oil and gas research team at pan-African Ecobank.
She managed Ecobank's research output across the energy industry value chain, covering a wide range of energy products and industry players, and has built an extensive network in the global and African energy sector.
specialist areas include global energy, upstream petroleum economics, African oil and gas markets, oil and gas financing trends and infrastructure challenges, sustainable energy solutions, Africa's power sector and natural resource policy.
In her earlier career, Rolake was the lead country risk analyst for Francophone and Anglophone West Africa and the Gulf of Guinea at the New York-based global risk consultancy, Eurasia Group, focusing on the oil & gas and mining & metals sectors.
Previously she was a Senior Africa Analyst in the global risk analysis team of London-based Control Risks Group, advising multinationals on business and investment risks in West Africa.
She has also worked for the International Crisis Group in Senegal, the European Commission in Brussels and the Foreign Policy Centre, and is a also a member of the board of directors of the Business Council for Africa (BCA, UK).
Rolake is a regular media commentator and presenter on global and African energy and natural resources, and has been a regular reviewer of global newspaper headlines on BBC World News since 2012.
Passionate about Africa, Rolake
is also working a sustainable energy initiative for African entrepreneurs due to be launched in early 2015.
A classical pianist by training, she
also enjoys jazz and contemporary piano in her
Fluent in French, and Yoruba, her
mother tongue, Rolake
has lived in Senegal and travelled extensively across Africa.
She holds a Bachelors and a Master's degree from the London School of Economics (LSE).
