"Serving with Denman Zirkle at the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation has been an absolute privilege," said SVBF Trustee James Roderick Graves, who served as Chairman of the SVBF Board in 2012 and 2013.
"We will miss having Denman as our Director," Graves added, "But we are fortunate that he will continue to help us with battlefields such as Third Winchester.
leaves a lasting legacy, one that ensures that future generations of Americans will be able to visit and enjoy these battlefields - and be better able to understand the unique heritage of the Valley."
Zirkle lives on the family's farm south of Edinburg where he
will continue to be active in preservation activities.
