Robin H Chambers
Mr Robin H Chambers AO is the co-founder of Chambers & Company and has been the Senior Partner since its establishment in 1984. He has served as Chadbourne & Parke's Special Counsel - China since 2003 and spends approximately half of each year working in China. He was formerly General Counsel of CRA Limited (now Rio Tinto Limited) for 14 years and lead lawyer on major mining projects in Australia involving billions of dollars of equity investment and export sales contracts. His practice primarily involves acting as the lead lawyer on international projects, with particular focus on China. Mr Chambers AO has advised a number of major Chinese State Owned Enterprises on their investments in Australia over a 29 year period. He has also advised the United States, European and Australian corporations on a range of projects in China. He has leading edge experience on the negotiation of documentation of numerous joint ventures in Australia and overseas, together with project management experience coordinating the participation of numerous interested parties at all stages and the project financing of major projects by international banking syndicates. Robin Chambers
Mr Chambers is the Senior Partner and founder of the legal firm Chambers & Company International Lawyers. Prior to 1984, Mr Chambers was the General Counsel of CRA Limited (now Rio Tinto Limited) for 14 years. He graduated with degrees in Australia and the United States, and was an associate with Chadbourne & Parke LLP in New York before returning to Australia to join CRA. Over his career as an international lawyer, Mr Chambers has been General Counsel on numerous projects, including many of the major resources projects developed in Australia, as well as on projects across Asia and other continents. Mr Chambers was co-founder of the Australian Mining & Petroleum Law Association and one time President. He is a life member of AMPLA. This body is the leading resources and energy law organisation in Australia. Mr Chambers was also a member of the National Board of the Australia China Business Council from 1986 until its merger with the ACCCI in the mid 1990s. Thereafter, he held the position of State Vice President for many years. He was made a life member in 2007. Mr Chambers is the only non-Chinese director of the Chinese government-owned Sinosteel Australia Pty Ltd, a director of Wuhan Steels Australian subsidiary, a director of YTC Resources Ltd appointed by Yunnan Tin Group Company Ltd and Co-Chairman of the China Advisory Board of Fortescue Metals Group.
