Mr. Zimmerman was appointed special counsel by the Cuyahoga County Prosecuting Attorney to represent Judges Nancy Margaret Russo and John D. Sutula of the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court in three Ohio Supreme Court cases concerning the question of whether "retired judges" can preside over jury trials.

Prior to joining Taft, Mr. Zimmerman served as an Assistant Ohio Attorney General from 1991-1995 as an Assistant Ohio Attorney General, Mr. Zimmerman represented the Ohio Governor, Secretary of State, Elections Commission and numerous executive agencies including the Ohio Departments of Development, Commerce and Administrative Services.
He currently serves on the Executive and Central Committees of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party and as President of the Shaker Heights Democratic Club.
Mr. Zimmerman was elected a delegate to the 2000 Democratic National Convention on behalf of Vice President Al Gore.
