Robert Wiles - Director of Blended Worship & Choral Music
Having served in various capacities in both church and school, Robert Wiles
has made his
life's work at these institutions teaching and directing music.He has a baccaluareate degree from Seattle Pacific University and a master's degree from the University of San Diego.He also studied for two years at UCLA in music, special education, and to obtain a university-recommended California secondary teaching credential, the first of its kind ever issued to a student at UCLA who had done his undergraduate work elsewhereWiles taught two years at Oxnard High School and then was one of the founding faculty at Thousand Oaks High School.He directed adult and children's choirs at First Methodist Church, Ventura, transferring to UMCTO in 1963, where he has served two stints as adult choir director as well as a year creating SongRise and several short periods helping out with the children's choirs.His
philosophy in church music is God expects us to give him our very best.
