Robert E. Whittenberger BELLA VISTA -- Robert E. Whittenberger, 70, of Bella Vista died Sept. 21, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers.He was born Jan. 3, 1932, in Akron, Ind., to Charles E. and Virginia Chapman Whittenberger.He and his wife moved to Ohio in 1975, living in Cleveland, Dayton and Portsmouth, where he pursued a career in hospital financial management.He retired to Bella Vista in 1998.He was last employed as an operating manager at the Jug Store in Jane, Mo.He was a veteran of the Korean War.He was a member of the Bella Vista VFW Post 9063, a longtime member of the Ohio HFMA, a member of the Bella Vista First United Methodist Church and belonged to the Bella Vista 9-Hole Men's Golf Association.He enjoyed golf, photography, reading and woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Cathie D. Austin Whittenberger, to whom he was married Dec. 3, 1965; one daughter, Shari Kilbourne of Dayton; two granddaughters, Erica and Bethany Kilbourne of Dayton; two brothers, William Whittenberger of Akron and Paul Whittenberger of Waycross, Ga. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Bella Vista United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff and the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. at Fayetteville National Cemetery.Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 9063, Bella Vista.
