Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame - Robert Tuttle Robert Tuttle Mr. Tuttle was an outstanding athlete at Whittier College participating in basket- ball, track, baseball and football. He was selected Athlete of the Year at Whittier College during 1946-1947. Mr. Tuttle was twice All Conference in both basketball and baseball and was inducted into the Whittier College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1982. After his college days, Mr. Tuttle became the varsity basketball coach at Ventura High School from 1947 to 1964. During this time, he had a record of 407 wins against only 84 defeats while twice capturing CIF Championships (1948-49 and 1950-51). Mr. Tuttle's teams were in 16 of 17 years in CIF playoffs and he had 17 All CIF first or second team players. In 1947, Mr. Tuttle received the honor of being the Helms Foundation High School Coach of the Year. In 1974, the Ventura High School gymnasium was named "Bob Tuttle Gym". In all 23 years of coaching, Mr. Tuttle has tallied 516 total wins against 98 losses.
