It is with deep sadness that MCIC reports that our colleague and good friend Bob Slocum, Executive Vice President of the North Carolina Forestry Association passed away on October 16, at UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC, with his family at his side.
Bob was 62.
Bob was born in Richmond, VA on October 13, 1950, son of the late Robert W. Slocum and Eleanor Waddy Slocum.
Bob graduated from North Carolina State University with a Forestry Management Degree.
He started his career as a field forester for the state of Virginia and later served as vice president for forestry policy and research of the American Forest Council in Washington, DC.
For the past 24 years, Bob served as the Executive Vice President of the North Carolina Forestry Association, where he personally directed the association's legislative efforts at both the state and federal level.
was an active supporter of the Wolfpack and a former board member of the North Carolina State University
Natural Resource Foundation.
Most recently, he served as a member of the Athletics Council at North Carolina State University and an adjunct professor for the North Carolina State College of Natural Resources.
