Dr. Walter Robert (Bob) Shettler was born in Maysville, Kentucky to Reverend and Mrs. Robert Shettler, Sr.
The next call for Bob
was to College Park Baptist Church in Orlando, FL, where he
was called as Minister of Activities
.For eighteen years he
served this church in ministry to youth, singles, seniors, and later in administration. He
developed on-campus ministry during this time at Edgewater High School and Lee Middle School. In 1994, Bob graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies. He then obtained his Doctor of Ministry degree at Drew University in 2000.After the senior pastor retired at College Park, Bob was called to his current position at First Presbyterian Church in Orlando as Minister of Evangelism and Global Missions' a position he has held for five years.
During this time there was opportunity in leading this church through a transition from a retiring senior minister to a new head of staff.Once this was completed, Bob
felt that after five years God was calling him to become a part of the Presbyterian denomination. He
recently completed the examination process for the transfer of his
ordination to the Presbyterian Church (USA) as a Minister of the Word
and Sacrament in June of 2005.He
has been seeking a call that will allow him to bring his
gifts of evangelism, teaching the faith and preaching.Bob
felt the call to First Presbyterian Church
in Gainesville, Florida, almost before the members of the Pastor Nominating Committee
were sensing this same call.He
has been blessed by God with strong interpersonal skills with individuals of all ages, whether in a one-on-one setting, in small groups or in the pulpit.
