Dover Corporation - Press Releases
Robert Schumacher, President of Pole/Zero, commented: "We are very excited to join the Microwave Products Group of Dover Electronics.
West Chester, Ohio USA: A Red Carnation Community
Pole/Zero President Bob Schumacher said the contract is unique because the military bought a large quantity of parts directly from Pole/Zero's catalog.Pole/Zero has annual revenue of $25 million and 200 employees. "This was truly a case where they started buying things off the shelf," Schumacher said. The deal represents a larger military initiative to buy items "commercially off the shelf," Schumacher said. Buying direct also saves the military money, Schumacher said. Besides skipping the middleman, buying off the shelf lets the military cut costs because items needed are mass-produced.They're also available to the commercial market, saving several million dollars by skipping specialized development costs, Schumacher said. "I think we'll see a lot of this going on," said Schumacher, who has been with Pole/Zero for 11 years."This has been our business strategy for years."
Pole/Zero Corporation is proud to honor President, Robert G. Schumacher, Jr. being named Ernst Young Entrepreneur of Year in technology category for South Central Ohio & Kentucky. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding businessmen and women all over the world. As president of Pole/Zero Corporation, Bob relies on three principles for success; evolution, empowerment, and perseverance."Evolution every day, revolution once in awhile."This philosophy has helped mold Pole/Zero from an unrecognized face in the industry, to a leading provider of co-site mitigation products.Bob began his career at Pole/Zero in 1993 as a design engineer, specializing in RF system design.Shortly after his hiring, Bob became responsible for leading a team of engineers and technicians. His leadership qualities coupled with his engineering experience was what set him apart from others.Bob led several technical programs that would prove to be the ‘leg up' that Pole/Zero needed to strengthen their customer base and expand their product portfolio. In the late 1990's Bob's experience and leadership was put to the test.He led the Pole/Zero technical team to bid on and accept two contracts, which had a booking value greater than Pole/Zero's revenue.Competing companies considered much of the technical performance impossible; however, Pole/Zero created a design to solve the problem and meet the customers expectation for cost and performance. The development team successfully completed the task over a two year period, and the products Eagle and Falcon were born.As a result of the new cutting-edge design, many competitors left the market, saying they simply can't compete with Pole/Zero.Gene Janning, founder of Pole/Zero Corporation recognized the technical and managerial talent that Bob demonstrated, and offered him the responsibility of managing the entire company.
