Dr. Robert Platzner - B'nai Mitzvah Coordinator e-mailDr. Robert Platzner, B'nai Mitzvah Coordinator A native New Yorker, Dr. Platzner moved to Sacramento in 1970 after teaching at Temple University in Philadelphia.He has taught at California State University - Sacramento in the department of Humanities and Religious Studies for the past thirty-five years and he has served as chairman of that department.Dr. Platzner is the author and co-author of several books and numerous scholarly articles, most recently an introduction to the Hebrew Bible.He has taught in both the religious school and in the Adult Education program at B'nai Israel, and along with Cantor Naluai, he continues to teach Torah Study on Shabbat morning.At present he is responsible for the teaching and supervision of the B'nai Mitzvah program.
