Robert Kramer, PhD Dr Kramer is Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Purdue University at Calumet. As Director of the Energy Efficiency and Reliability Center, he is on the cutting edge of energy transformation and efficiency. His projects range from novel methods for biogas production from anaerobic digestion to metallurgical coke production.
Prior to his academic appointment, Dr Kramer was chief scientist for NiSource, parent company of the Northern Indiana Public Services Utilities Company (NIPSCO). NIPSCO is the primary utilities provider in the Northwest Indiana area. As a result, Dr Kramer understands how energy technologies and costs affect communities, businesses, and industries. Since the start of his career as a nuclear fuel engineer four decades ago, Purdue University Calumet professor Robert Kramer said managing energy costs has become increasingly important in determining how successful a business will be. Kramer, who is also director of the university's Energy Efficiency and Reliability Center, said the world is at a "tipping point" when it comes to energy because population growth, geopolitical tensions and the economic advancement of developing nations.
"This is a tremendous strain on our resources -- especially the energy resources," Kramer said.
