Robert Eardley Robert Eardley joined Houston Methodist in July, 2011 as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the Information Technology Division that includes more than 500 professionals organized into clinical, business and infrastructure teams. The IT Division provides strategy, support, and infrastructure for a $12 billion healthcare system consisting of seven hospitals, five emergency centers, two free-standing imaging centers, and 70 ambulatory/outpatient locations in the greater Houston area.
With his ability to create and communicate a clear vision for the future, and his skill and passion for stakeholder engagement, Eardley has gained unprecedented Houston Methodist Board support for IT. He has earned a position among the thought leaders in the organization's strategic planning, aligning IT goals with the Houston Methodist strategic development and mission.
His natural insight into the human side of IT led him to require his entire management team to become certified in change management to promote project successes. He led business plan development to move to a new integrated electronic health record. His strong belief in IT governance, mobility, collaboration tools and patient engagement has led to major strides in these areas at Houston Methodist, with industry leading plans for the near future.
As CIO, Eardley provides executive leadership for more than $300 million in committed IT projects over the next five years, and the IT portion of $1 billion in major system expansion projects under way.
