Bob was awarded an academic scholarship to the University of Southern California where he majored in Political Science and minored in Economics.

He worked as a Labor Representative and Organizer, where his abilities were quickly recognized and he became the President of a 15,000 member Teamsters local.

selection as a negotiator for the National Master Freight Agreement covering more than 220,000 Teamsters across the United States.
He also served as an arbiter and managed arbitration panels for the 11 western states.
His knowledge of the banking business, where he became a corporate Vice-President for Coast Federal Bank, was another factor in the Board's decision to hire him, as the finances at EAA were in turmoil at the time, a situation he has corrected, turning a deficit into a surplus.
