PORTSMOUTH R.I. - Solid defense and the offense of Katie Palmer helped Falmouth Academy coach Rob Wells to a milestone victory yesterday.
The 40-29 win was the 200th in Wells' 15-year tenure. This year's 10-1 record brings his career totals to 200-85.
"It's still fun but in a different way than 15 years ago. Then there was more teaching, it was the third year of the program, now its game management," said Wells, whose team has evolved into a perennial contender.
When the officials were late arriving yesterday, FA got to watch the Abbey's Katie Guida hit 14 straight pregame shots from behind the arc. Wells made sure his defenders challenged all her attempts in the game and held her to two treys and eight points.

One of the most memorable highlights of the trip was when we were driving like crazy as we were running late to the airport, and she started reciting Robert Frost.
In an article in the Cape Cod Times, Athletic Director Rob Wells said, "It is the right time to move into the C&I.
Rob Wells and I had a great trip to Washington DC to visit alumni on a beautiful, sunny April Saturday. Following our typical alumni regional event format, we planned to meet alumni and their guests at Elephant and Castle, a restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue, and then view the Civil Rights exhibit at the Museum of American History.
Our cab driver from the airport said he couldn't bring us all the way because of the Cherry Blossom Festival, which was blocking roads left and right. So he dropped us off to walk, saying we wouldn't have to go very far.
Thanks to Bridget for arranging this event and to all who attended, and thanks to Sarah who drove Mr. Wells and me back to the airport.
