MARTINSBURG - The Eastern Regional Airport Authority will be getting help with its chronic airfield lighting problems, according to Rick Wachtel, chairman of the authority.
"The (Federal Aviation Administration) wants us to replace our lighting regulator and they want us to do a complete survey of the system," Wachtel
said in a recent telephone interview.
With the FAA's approval, the funds for the project would be available after Oct. 1, the beginning of the federal fiscal year, Wachtel

said the Airport Authority members renewed the lease for Gourmet Cooke catering on the second floor of the airport terminal.
The location was originally imagined as a restaurant, but several attempts at operating a restaurant there have failed.
The lease is for one year, but Wachtel said the authority members would entertain a multi-year lease proposed by Joanne Cooke, the catering business owner and operator.
Also at the meeting, Wachtel
said the Airport Authority received an informal lease proposal from Shentel for a cellphone antennae on a water tower in the authority's business park.
