“There are well paying jobs in some of our industrial technology and business divisions, emergency management divisions that students should take a look at, explained Dr. Richie McAlister, Associate Vice President of Career and Tech Ed. at Meridian Community College.
“That particular facility will vault us forward as far as being in the position for new manufacturing jobs moving into our area, and they will take a look at that as a training facility so that we can bring some of these careers and students along with some of the necessary skills they need, explained Dr. McAlister.

Meridian Mayor Assistant Richie McAlister and state House representative Charles Young (D-Meridian) met last month with officials with NRN in Miami.
On Tuesday, at the Meridian City Council's work session, McAlister and Young gave an update on how Mayor Percy Bland's administration is progressing with the network. "The National Resource Network is helping us move forward with our downtown medical district," McAlister said. Richie McAlister (assistant to Mayor Bland) at the mayor's office, has been working with them and I think he's done a great job of keeping communication with the National Resource Network so we can get these grants.
