...Richard W. Warren, 78, born in Binghamton, NY, the son of Marguerite Warren Ratzloff
...Dick attended Binghamton schools, graduating from Binghamton High School in 1948.
It was at the time of the Korean Conflict and he
chose to serve in the Marine Corps for four years.He
served one year in Korea and received the Korean Service Star and the United Nations Service Star.While stationed at Quantico, VA, he
was honored to stand guard for the Harry S. Truman inauguration.He
returned to civilian life in 1952 after being discharged as a Staff Sergeant.Dick then started working for Spaulding Bakeries in
Binghamton, as a route salesman.While living in Binghamton, he was senior counselor for United Commercial Travelers and served on the church council at Redeemer Lutheran Church.He
was soon transferred to Elmira, NY, as a sales manager.While livingin Elmira, he was a member of the Jaycees.
In 1962, he
was transferred to Hazleton, PA, as sales manager.During that time, he attended Penn State University.He was chairman of "Valley Days" while living in Conyngham, PA, their largest event of the year.He also served on the church council at Trinity Lutheran Church.
In 1965, he
returned to Binghamton as regional sales manager for Spaulding
.After retiring from there, he entered the insurance business and spent 25 years with Equitable Life Assurance Company.During that time, he was a member of the Million Dollar Round Table.He
retired from Equitable, but continued to run his
insurance business with his
son Scott.In 2006 and 2007, he was named to President Bush's business man of the year list.One of his favorite pass times was dancing and he was president of Valley Cotillion, held at the Monday Afternoon Club.Dick
will always be thought of lovingly by his
was predeceased by his
beloved daughter, Darlene Elayne in 1984.He
is survived by his
wife of 57 years Joyce Wahl Warren and two sons, Scott R. Warren and Douglas E. Warren; his
sister and brother in law, Margaret and John Jones.He
also raised two of his
granddaughters Tracy L. Jones and Jaclyn Jones Manigold.His other grandchildren include Richard; Mark and Kurt Warren and Darlene; Alexis, Kenneth; Scott and Nicholas Warren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
My dad has known Dick
for almost 50 years- going back to Spaulding Bakeries
has been a very good friend to our family for many years.
