Richard A. Ungerer MSPD, M.Th is Executive Director of the American Montessori Society
, since its formation in 1960, has grown to be the largest Montessori organization in the world serving Montessori schools, teacher education programs, and teachers.
Prior to joining AMS in 2005, Mr. Ungerer led a number of not-for-profit organizations committed to enhancing education policy, leadership, and service-learning programs for children and youth.
He served as president of the National Institute for Work and Learning, president of the "I Have A Dream Foundation," and Executive Director of the National Society for Internships and Experiential Education.
He currently is a board member of the Council for American Private Education (CAPE).
Mr. Ungerer has a BA from Colgate University with a major in Political Science, graduating Cum Laude and as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
He also has a Master of Social Planning from the Boston College School of Social Work and a Master of Theology from the Boston University School of Theology with a concentration in Social Ethics.
