In the fall of 2003, Richard Trombly
came to China to further his
career in business journalism while covering the most vibrant news story today - China.
He initially worked as business section editor for the Shanghai Daily English-language newspaper and went on to work as correspondent for The Hollywood Reporter Magazine and other international publications.
He also was an editorial consultant working in branding, marketing and PR as well as other business communications with large local companys as well as international fortune 500 firms.
In 2005, Trombly had the opportunity to start working in the film industry.
He graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1990 where he studied film and theater with a BA in Literature so he was eager to return to his love of theater and film and use his writing and communication expertise in the film industry.
Richard Trombly is a screenwriter and director currently developing the Chinese-language feature film "The Journey Home.
Before coming to China, Trombly
wrote freelance feature articles for local and national publications and reported for the Associated Press
In early 2000, he was hired by the Berkshire Beacon to be its managing editor.
At the end of that year, he was hired to be the Associate Editor of Industrial Distribution, a Newton-Massachusetts-based trade magazine published by Cahners Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc.
Richard was born and raised in Belchertown, Massachusetts in 1967.
private pilot's license in 1990 and soon followed it up with instrument, commercial and multi-engine certifications.
He is an avid pilot and flies out of an airport in Northampton, Mass when he visits the USA.
is also a wooden boat enthusiast and has built a 14-foot wooden sailboat and goes paddling in canoe or kayak whenever he
has the chance..
has two children: a 15 year-old daughter, and 13 year-old son.
