"Dick" Scholz, 84, Horton, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at a Topeka hospital. He was born April 22, 1918, near Lancaster, to Paul R. and Matilda Myer Scholz.He attended the former Bell Grade School and graduated from Huron High School in Huron.He was a farmer and lived in the Lancaster community in Atchison County until 1982 when he retired.He was a former Atchison County commissioner. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the former Lancaster IOOF Lodge No. 355, both in Lancaster, and had served on the church council.He was a member of Denton Lodge No. 449, AF&AM, in Denton, York Rite bodies and Abdallah Shrine in Kansas City, Kan.He had served for 25 years on the Rural Electification Association board and also had served on the Watershed board and Huron School board.
