...Richard L. Resurreccion is a human resource development consultant for the Long Beach Fire Department, Professor Emeritus at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), and Lecturer (part-time) in Leadership and Organizational Studies at Chapman University.He received his Doctor of Education degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, in industrial education with an emphasis in the role of activity-based learning in preadolescent and adolescent growth and development.His
cognate studies focused on (a) the social, political, economic, and technological influences affecting housing and urban development, and (b) staff development for educators of occupational education students with special needs.Prior to joining the CSULB faculty in 1978, Dr. Resurreccion served as the academic advisor/coordinator for the Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Administration program at California State University, Los Angeles.He has been a visiting professor, visiting lecturer, and institute lecturer at the University of Delaware, University of Hawaiiâ€"Manoa, and University of Tennessee, Knoxville.Dr. Resurreccion
has written, received, and directed applied research grants and contracts in occupational special/rehabilitation education, academic advising, and life safety technology and emergency management.He
is a recipient of the CSULB
Faculty Achievement Awards for (a) Distinguished Scholarly and Creative Activity (1982) and (b) Distinguished Teaching (1986).Dr. Resurreccion served as a Reserve Firefighter Specialist with the Huntington Beach Fire Department from 1984 to 1991.
From 1983 to 1993 he
was a Volunteer Paramedic Preceptor Training Instructor at the Los Angeles County Paramedic Training Institute
is the former Chair of the Orange County Emergency Medical Care Committee (1985 & 1986).He
currently serves as Co-Chair of the Long Beach Police Department Chief's Education and Action Research Advisory Group.Dr. Resurreccion is Honorary Chief of the Clark County (NV) Fire Department.
