Richard M. Orlan, MD, who practices internal medicine with Brattleboro Primary Care (Gannett Building on BMH campus), is taking new patients, age 55 and older.
In addition to his internal medicine board certification, Dr. Orlan is a board-certified geriatrician which means he specializes in taking care of the older patient.
And, in addition to those two credentials, Dr. Orlan is certified in hospice (end of life) and in palliative medicine (chronic disease and pain management).
Dr. Orlan received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Ross University School of Medicine in the British West Indies after attending Pharmacy School and receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemical pharmacology.
He served his internship and residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.
also completed a fellowship in nephrology (treatment of diseases of the kidneys and hypertension) from Mount Sinai School of Medicine
Dr. Orlan comes to Brattleboro by way of Florida where he was Associate Medical Director for Long-Term Care at The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast.
While in Florida, Dr. Orlan served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer's Association, Neighborly Senior Services, and as Alzheimer's Community Advisor in Seminole (FL).
He is an active member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care, American Geriatrics Society, American Medical Directors Association, and the American Academy of Home Health Physicians.
