All five will be interviewed April 28 at a special joint session of the Ardmore, Tenn., and Ardmore, Ala., town councils, according to Ardmore, Ala., Mayor Ricky Mitchell.

Mitchell acknowledged that McCutcheon's application came in after the announced deadline, but the representative was in Montgomery and didn't return until the Monday after the application deadline.
"We knew he had shown interest in the job," said Mitchell.
Mitchell said members of both councils want the best person for the job and he doesn't see a problem with McCutcheon being out of town for much of the time while the Legislature is in session from January to May.
"I've talked to quite a few people on my side," said Mitchell.
...
Mitchell said the interviews, which will be conducted individually and in front of both full councils, would be in closed session.
When asked if the councils would be discussing matters of "good name and character" with the applicants, one reason for closing meetings when a quorum is present, Mitchell said, "That is possible."
The councils will convene on May 7 in joint session to vote on a candidate, Mitchell said.
