Ordained 1988Fr. Rick comes to us from St. Michael's in Prior Lake, where he was pastor for 11 years.Before serving at St. Michael, he was associate pastor for five years at St. Edward in Bloomington, and before that, he was a student at the St. Paul Seminary -where he concentrated on Social Justice, Liturgy and Church History.Prior to Seminary, Fr. Rick attended the University Of Illinois, where he majored in Psychology and Political Science.
had thoughts about going to Law School, he
decided to give the Seminary a try first.He soon came to know that nothing could be more fulfilling and "fit him" better than preaching the Gospel, celebrating Liturgy and serving a community of faith as a priest and pastor.
In addition to his
love for God and the Church, Fr. Rick loves the outdoors-- especially the north woods and the Boundary Waters.He
has a little cabin near the boundary waters that's named "Banker's Bait & Bible", built by friends and parishioners from his
last parish.It's a very special place to him.He's
also a bit of a science fiction buff (especially Star Trek) and loves reading, hiking, canoeing, movies and hanging out with friends.

Father Richard Banker, who has been serving at parishes in the Diocese of Duluth, will return to the archdiocese to serve as pastor of St. Rita in Cottage Grove.
After his ordination in 1988, he served at St. Edward, in Bloomington, St. Michael in Prior Lake, St. Patrick in Oak Grove and St. Peter in Mendota.
