Dr. Renee Laegreid received the 2006 Faculty Achievement Award today at the annual Honors Convocation in French Memorial Chapel.

May 12, 2006 (Hastings, Neb.) -- Dr. Renee Laegreid received the 2006 Faculty Achievement Award today at the annual Honors Convocation in French Memorial Chapel.
All full-time faculty are eligible for this award, which includes a $2,500 cash award provided by Sodexho food service.The recipient must have demonstrated significant and meritorious achievement in teaching.

Laegreid, assistant professor of history, has been a full-time faculty member since 2003.She served as an adjunct from 1995-2003.

Laegreid earned a bachelor of arts degree in interior design at Washington State University, a master's degree in American studies at Wesleyan University and a doctorate in history at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

Laegreid has a passion for American culture, history of the American West and womens history. Her work has been published in books, academic journals and encyclopedias, many of them surrounding the rodeo queens that braved the West. She teaches American and Great Plains history at HC.
She received her bachelors degree in interior design from Washington State University and her Masters in American studies from Wesleyan University. She completed her Doctorate degree in history from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2002.
