Anthony Reinert, Manager Café Too: Helping other people is important to me because there was there was someone there to help me when I needed it.
Anthony Reinert, Manager Café Too: Before I came to Inspiration Corporation, I was a heroin addict I ended up in Cook County Jail for 6 months. They've given me employment training they've helped me with resume writing and interviewing. Now I'm helping other people go through what I've been through. The students can say here's a guy who started where I am right now and he's back on his feet he's employed. Anthony Reinert, Manager Café Too: You can make a difference.

"Before I came to Inspiration Corporation, I was a heroin addict and I was living out of hotels," said Anthony Reinert, a program participant.
Inspiration's resources helped Reinert participate in its cooking program, and today he is its restaurant manager.

A second chance

Anthony Reinert never envisioned that his life would involve heroin addiction or a six-month jail sentence for theft, but after a few wrong turns, it did.
On the day he left jail, he made a promise to turn his life around, find stable employment and stay clear of drugs-not an easy task given his background. Fortunately, Reinert was pointed in the direction of a local Chicago organization called Inspiration Corporation, which helps people like him get back on track. Within a few years of joining the organization, Reinert turned his love of cooking into a stable position with a restaurant. He credits this turnaround with the skills, training and support he received at Inspiration Corporation, which helps people who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, with employment and housing services. ""I feel that the students can…say, 'Here's a guy who started where I am right now, and now he's up and he's back on his feet, he's employed.'" - Anthony Reinert Reinert signed up for the organization's kitchen program, called Café Too, a 13-week program which gives people the skills and knowledge necessary to work in the food industry. Participants then move to one of the organization's restaurants where they get on the job training and experience to build their resume. Reinert followed this path, working his way up from a waiter, now serving as a restaurant manager. "Inspiration Kitchen and Inspiration Corporation have been extremely important to me in the five years that I've been associated with them," Reinert said. "They've given me employment training and they've helped me with the 'soft' skills-resume writing and interviewing. Most importantly, they've helped me increase my own self-confidence." Reinert is just one of thousands of Chicago residents who Inspiration Corporation has helped in the 21 years since it started. Reinert agrees with that observation as well. "I feel that the students can…say, 'Here's a guy who started where I am right now, and now he's up and he's back on his feet, he's employed,'" he said.
